After a long day of working and child-raising—writing an article here, wiping a runny nose there—the last thing I want to hear is that moms in my generation aren’t doing enough.
So I wasn’t too pleased to read about new research from the University of South Carolina showing that moms today are less physically active than moms in the 1960s.
The study found that moms today spend significantly less time on active tasks like cooking and cleaning and more time on sedentary activities like TV watching and Internet browsing.
Comeback Momma is an awesome blog inspiring moms who have experienced setbacks and struggles in their quest for health and wellbeing. I’m honored to be guest posting there, sharing 5 easy ways for today’s moms to be more active and less sedentary.

Can’t wait! I need all the tips I can get! ;)-Ashley
I would say I am less active now than I was when I had little ones. Some of it’s due to time constraints, some of it due to work changes and habits. I am trying to be more aware of it and make time for my workout. I did go out for a 40 min run this morning!
We do little things like core work during video time. Yesterday Susanna was tightly hugging me while I did planks and was laughing. Toddler resistance is wonderful!
Other times we’ll jump, squat, or other while in the kitchen waiting for dinner to be done.
I might not run daily, but I seek to make the most of the moments I choose.
Love it! I am going to give toddler resistance a try, haha. I’m sure my son will be on board!
I just put my pedometer on today for the first time in months!! I work at a desk job, so it’s hard to get enough activity, but I am working on it!
trying so hard to be active whenever possible. On my way to check out your tips!
oh and I am a University of South Carolina alum! I loved seeing a study from my school!
I’ve been having a really hard time this winter getting active. Yesterday was the first nice day in a while and I took the opportunity to play outside with my son. We ran back and forth and threw a ball around and it honestly felt so good. Heading over to read the rest of your post!
