Feel Good Friday is a regular series to give you a smile, a chuckle, or a nugget of wisdom to get your weekend off on the right foot!
In honor of the Fourth of July holiday here in the U.S., I thought I’d take some of our country’s founding values and reinterpret them mommy-style. Tweet this post!
Freedom: Going to Target without any children in tow.
Equality: “I changed the last stinky diaper, this one is all yours.”
Democracy: Yeah, right. This is a dictatorship, and mama’s at the helm.
Individualism: Praising your child’s artistic expression, even though you can’t tell if his drawing is of you working at Home Depot or engaging in a more questionable profession.
“Manifest Destiny”: “You’re rolling your eyes now, kids, but remember that in 30 years you will wake up and say, ‘Oh my gosh, I’ve become my mother.’”
Bravery: Taking a child under the age of 4 on a transatlantic flight.
Independence: Potty training, dressing themselves, the first day of kindergarten…and on and on from there…

You nailed it! On an unrelated topic, I”m still not getting your blog posts. I’ll subscribe again today with my other email address!
Unfortunately I never got a straight answer about the issue, so I am really hoping it works with your other email address!
So funny! and so true! Especially love the Freedom definition!
Oooh, this is a fun prompt. I’d have to think about it but I love your examples.
I went to Walmart alone today. I can’t stand Walmart but someone gave Scarlet a gift she had so I wanted to exchange it for something she didn’t.
All in the name of America. Or something!? Happy 4th!
How fun, Katie! Yes, taking a trip to Target without the kids would be a vacation in and of itself. It’s amazing how they can change your perspective. Hope you’re having a great weekend.
This is hilarious, Katie! I can’t think of anything to add at the moment. My holiday was very rainy and windy. We’ll be making up for that this weekend!
I love the Bravery one! For me, Freedom is being able to have a meal without being called for a million times.
That’s a great one! I haven’t experienced that in quite some time, haha.
Love it! Freedom is my favorite. Totally a luxury that one! 🙂
Hmmm…I’d have to think about this one. But Manifest Destiny…oh yeah.
HA!! LOVE THIS Katie!!! I have yet to celebrate some of these… lol!! But suffice it to say, I celebrate freedom of speech every day. BAZINGA!
LOVE IT!
