A Clever Cure for Toy Clutter—A SPARKBOX Toys Review

My son and I had the opportunity to review a SPARKBOX Toys subscription box. All thoughts and opinions are our own.

A Clever Cure for Toy Clutter - A Review of SPARKBOX Toys #sponsored

Toy clutter is a very real problem in my house right now.

Somehow, in my son’s two-and-a-half years of life, we have amassed a ridiculous amount of toys that alternate between the living room floor and the many toy bins I’ve strategically placed around the house.

The worst part is that despite the massive quantity of toys we have, he really only plays with a few—the others were the “flavor of the day” for a bit, but have since been forgotten at the bottom of one of the aforementioned bins.

What’s a mom to do?

One solution comes from SPARKBOX Toys, a toy subscription box that allows you to rent high-quality, educational toys—and then send them back when you’re all done with them.

What is SPARKBOX Toys?

Subscription boxes are all the rage these days, so why shouldn’t toys jump on that bandwagon?

The way it works is simple:

1. Once you’ve joined, you can log into your account and review the box of toys that’s headed your way. Each box contains four toys that have been expertly chosen based on your child’s age and development.

Our box contained an alphabet fish, a multi-solution shape puzzle, a cylinder puzzle, and a basket of healthy breakfast play food items.

2. The box of toys shows up on  your doorstep, and your child delights in opening it up and starting to play. (What kid doesn’t adore getting mail?)

My son went straight for the puzzle!

3. You keep the toys for 30 days or more.

The alphabet fish was also a big hit with my son since he’s right at that stage where he’s learning his letters. A perfect match!

4. You return the box (with no shipping charges) and then await the arrival of your next one!

What are the benefits?

Some of the benefits that stood out to me are:

Less Toy Clutter

Instead of keeping tons of toys in your house that are no longer developmentally appropriate for your child, you simply send them back and get new ones that are.

High-Quality Toys

All the toys in the SPARKBOX collection are chosen for their quality, their effectiveness in encouraging learning through play, their design, and their safety. The toys in their collection have actually collectively won 157 global toy awards. In other words, you’re not getting junky toys!

Teaching Sharing and Responsibility

Playing with the toys in our SPARKBOX has opened up a conversation with my son about how we will be returning these toys so that other kids can play with them. It’s also been great for teaching him to be careful and responsible with the toys, since they don’t belong to him.

Try Before You Buy

There’s nothing worse than spending money on a toy that you child isn’t interested in at all. A subscription box negates that issue because you aren’t “committing” to the toy, if you will. And, if you really fall in love with one particular toy, you can purchase it from SPARKBOX at a discounted price.

We really enjoyed our opportunity to review a SPARKBOX Toys subscription box! To learn more, check out their website, like them on Facebook, or follow them onTwitter, Instagram, or Pinterest.

  1. I love that SparkBox includes high-quality wooden toys in their shipments! These look so cute and durable, and the option to purchase if your child gets really attached is a great option.

  2. Wow, this is a really great idea! We are definitely drowning under a sea of toy clutter. I have a set of shelves with six cloth bins as well as six additional cloth bins, all full of toys! The good thing though is that Jack still really does play with all of them, he rotates through them!
