My husband Dave is my blog’s most dedicated reader, so of course he was a little worried when he read my post about the six things I really DIDN’T want to get for Mother’s Day.
I imagine there was an audible sigh of relief when the present he planned didn’t make the list.
Naturally I was pretty intrigued yesterday morning when Dave said to our 21-month-old Luke, “Let’s show Mommy what we made for her for Mother’s Day,” and instead of whipping out a craft he turned on the television.
He pulled up this video, and I melted.
For me, this was the perfect Mother’s Day gift. I couldn’t have asked for anything better.
Thank you, Dave, for being so creative and thoughtful. And thank you, Luke, for saying you think your mama is pretty!

So precious! Sounds like daddy got the message. 🙂 Hope you had a nice Mother’s Day weekend.
Oh my gosh! THIS IS AWESOME!! Precious!
Awesome!
Yesterday was a lot of just-right moments…
4000 yard pool set (3000 swim), snuggles and singing with Susanna, salad and Swedish fish post swim, finding a grill plate on sale (the hub made Tandori chicken on the fire pit last night …oh, the smells!), and ordering a few new clothes.
That was after doing cloth diapers, cleaning, packing, etc. which I enjoyed, too.
Sounds like you had a wonderful day!
Absolutely adorable! Your husband is a keeper. Glad you had a great one. 🙂
Katie thanks for sharing such a personal Mother’s Day gift. I think your husband is a genius. And your son is adorable!
LOVE! I slept in, had breakfast made for me, got some quiet alone time, laid in the sun, and had a nice family dinner that I didn’t have to cook! It was a good day! Happy belated Mother’s Day to you.
Sounds like a wonderful day to me!
That’s so sweet! I had a bit of a pity party for myself after our attempt to go out to lunch was a bust due to an extremely bratty preschooler, but… after a unexpectedly enjoyable graduation party for my cousin in the afternoon (wine and cupcakes? Yes please.) we had a really nice, low-key family evening hanging out in the backyard and playing. So, it turned out pretty well after all!
Glad it turned out to be a nice day for you!
Aww!! My 22-month-old watched this with me and would say, “Mama” and “Love you, Mama” to your husband’s prompts. So sweet. And I love the way your son says, “Uh huh”. It’s SO cute.
My Mother’s Day was one of the best. I think I’ll be writing about it this week.
Too cute!!! Can’t wait to read about your Mother’s Day!
Well I think that’s just the best gift ever! So cute.
Cue. heart. melting!
Way to go Dad/Luke!
Very cute!
I had a fantastic Mother’s Day. I didn’t have to cook, so that was a huge plus.
Oh My GOODNESS! That was sooo sweet and something you will watch 100 times over the years! That was a great gift from your husband. 🙂
That was precious, Katie! Thanks for sharing.
That was absolutely adorable!! What a thoughtful idea!
Too darn cute, Katie. Your hubs even had a soundtrack and effects. That’s a keeper right there!
We had a pretty good Mother’s Day—lunch with the whole fam at a restaurant that thankfully had us in a private room. Enough space for the kids to go crazy post-dinner without disturbing other people lol.
That is essential!
Oh my gosh that IS THE BEST. Tell Dad, he totally raised the bar for other hubby’s next year! 🙂
And for himself, too! How is he going to top that???
SO precious!! Dad did a great job!!
I’m not a Mom, so I visited my Mom in assisted care during Mother’s Day. She still recognizes me when I show up, so that’s a good thing.
A precious mommy-gram! Kudos to your hubby.
Aw! Too adorable! What a fab hubby you have!
